An Evil Bug

Last week on Tuesday (Jan. 30th), my boys were invited to an ice-skating, birthday party. Sean had struggled with a headache all morning, so I gave him Motrin, fed him, and sent him off. I ended up returning home with Aidan since I was not feeling well.
I picked them up around 4:30 only to discover that Sean had not really enjoyed himself very much, and Drew had a BLAST!!! I asked Sean what the problem had been, and he replied that he was freezing the entire time. What? I sent them with sweatshirts, winter jackets, hats, and gloves, and he had put on everything. At this point I realized that something was NOT quite right!!! We took his temp. upon arriving home - 103*+. I felt so badly for him. Over the next few days, his fever remained around 101* with motrin and up to 105* with tylenol.
On Wednesday evening, Aidan told me that he had a headache, and a couple of hours later, he announced that he had two headaches - poor baby. I immediately checked his temp., and it was around 102*. Drew also came down with a fever during the night. Needless to say, I phoned our Dr's office and requested an appointment for 3 sick boys ASAP!!! I was relieved to walk out an hour later with 3 prescriptions for Zithromax - they had strep throat.
My OB wrote out a prescription for me on Friday in case I needed it over the weekend. I was so grateful that they were willing to do this instead of forcing me to go to the ER on Sat. or Sun. if I became sick. By Sunday, I felt terrible, and Patrick picked up my prescription for me as soon as the pharmacy opened. What a sweet husband, considering the roads were covered in snow and he was also feeling unwell. Monday morning he went to the Dr. and returned home later with some much-needed groceries and armed with his own prescription for strep throat.
Can you believe it? All five of us contracted this evil bug!!! We were pretty much wiped out for about ten days with headaches, fevers, colds, sore throats, ear aches, etc. Patrick and I felt like we had been run over by a freight train.
What an important reminder this was to be ever-thankful to God for the good health that we normally enjoy, and for the luxury of modern day medicine. It is so good to be healthy again!!!

Amen! We are usually well, but when we do get sick I am extra thankful for good health. Also (as I've discovered since having a child) it is a whole different struggle to care for a sick child when you are sick too!! Glad you're all feeling better.
