Field Trip: Cathedral of Learning

We really enjoyed this outing. I love the concept of uniting different ethnics groups and preserving cultural heritage, but the price to build some of these rooms made me cringe.

Ready for their tour.

Love this huge fireplace, especially the grates.

He sure does look angelic.

Sometimes the chair is just a teeny bit too big.

Daddy and Asher

Ukranian Room -
the woodwork (dovetailing) was impressive.

Handpainted pottery...

eggs...

and tiles on the warming stove.

Israeli Heritage Room -
the mosaic on the floor was incredible.

Ten Commandments carved into the door

 Early American -
probably my favorite room, because...

there was a secret doorway/passage up to this bedroom.

He definitely wins the award for cutest member of our homeschool group.

An ambience that definitely encourages study.

Armenian Room

Alphabet from 404 AD still in use today.

Japanese Room -
in honor of our Japanese relatives.

Austrian Room -
resplendent!

Korean Heritage -
who doesn't love a phoenix?

Czechoslovak Room

Syria-Lebanon Room -
fragile and can only be viewed through a sealed door.

Greek Room -
the ceiling was handpainted.

Scottish Room -
my BIL would have enjoyed seeing this one.
